Arrive Logistics is one of the fastest growing logistics companies in the country, and we are looking for a Paralegal who will report to the Arrive executive team. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your legal acumen in a brand new position. As our Paralegal, you will provide legal support to stakeholders across the business related to contracting, litigation, legal, and regulatory matters.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare, investigate and conduct research for new and ongoing legal matters.
  • Organize, coordinate, and track all legal files and documents, making them available and easily accessible to attorneys.
  • Prepare verbal and written reports to assist attorneys in determining how cases should be processed.
  • Prepare relevant information for inclusion in and assist with legal department activity reports, as needed.
  • Prepare draft legal documents, pleadings and memoranda.
  • Prepare materials on training programs for management and Arrive’s personnel regarding legal-related issues.
  • Provide timely assistance to Arrive’s outside counsel as requested.
  • Respond to subpoenas and requests for information.
  • Manage deadlines and the case/matter calendar.
  • Coordinate court appearances, depositions, meetings, etc., between employees and outside counsel.
  • Develop, maintain, monitor and track internal legal processes and databases.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privilege of all work.
  • Participate in and support privileged and confidential projects.
  • Provide excellent customer service to colleagues at all levels by responding to inquiries and requests for assistance in a timely and professional manner.
  • Help define procedures and practices within the company to promote efficient workflows and handling of legal requests.
  • Work independently on special projects, as assigned, including, but not limited to, litigation, legal and regulatory matters.
  • Receive and respond to a variety of internal and external inquiries.
  • Communicate with counsel and business contacts on a day-to-day basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2+ years litigation experience.
  • 2+ years employment law experience.
  • Understanding of state and federal court rules.
  • Experience with eDiscovery, document review platforms, and electronic document handling.
  • Understanding of protective orders and electronically stored information stipulations
  • Experience handling civil third-party subpoenas.
  • Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals.
  • Ability to analyze, review, and make recommendations.
  • Ability to develop effective methods for proof-reading and quality-review of work product to ensure all aspects of work are completed correctly.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize due dates and deadlines on multiple matters.
  • Experience working with attorneys to develop case organization and management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Sound judgment, strong interpersonal and the ability to handle multiple projects at a time.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and written/verbal communication skills, strong research and writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information, make decisions and deliver results under deadlines.
  • Strong report-generating skills.
  • Ability to identify and prioritize issues and problem solve.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively with team members and independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Employment law counseling and/or litigation experience.
  • Experience directing, conducting, reviewing and/or providing feedback about internal investigations.
  • Experience interpreting and applying employer policies to evaluate employee performance or conduct and assessing legal risk or potential discipline and termination decisions.
  • Experience conducting legal research and drafting legal memos.
  • Experience with researching, tracking and communicating requirements of federal, state and local laws, regulations and court decisions.
  • Experience defending administrative agency charges of discrimination (e.g. EEOC), including investigating allegations, reviewing documents, drafting position statements and other documents.
  • Experience responding to attorney demand letters, including collecting responsive documents.
  • Experience investigating and responding to wage claims.
