Who We Want

As Arrive’s Lead Barista, you’ll be responsible for providing an overall, great customer experience for Arrive employees as they order from Broker’s Brew, our in-house, full-service coffee bar. This starts by ensuring all baristas are providing top-notch customer service, preparing quality food and beverages, ensuring the back-end operations run smoothly, and being the main contact for all things food & beverage related. The Lead Barista will operate the Cafe in the most efficient and effective manner, while actively monitoring and maintaining profitability. 

What You’ll Do

  • Manage every aspect of Broker’s Brew to ensure your team provides a positive experience for Arrive employees. 
  • Lead team of reports on daily tasks. Provide on-going training, evaluate performance, hold direct reports accountable, and address any performance or attendance issues appropriately and timely. 
  • Provide a cleaning/restock schedule to ensure the community areas and coffee stations in both buildings (Building 14 and 15) remain clean and stocked with all necessary supplies on a daily basis or as requested. 
  • Take ownership of all ordering, restocking, inventory, and deliveries. Complete supply and back-of-house inventory audit each week along with completing the weekly/monthly budget related to Profit & Loss. 
  • Track daily, weekly, and monthly revenues and expenses. Manage the relationship with our vendors and coordinate all product offerings, deliveries, and payments.
  • Place all necessary orders for office snacks, beverages, and outsourced breakfast and lunch items by the appropriate deadline to ensure on-time delivery. 
  • Routinely provide assistance with cleaning the kitchen, cafe, and coffee bar areas, while overseeing that these tasks are completed at the standards set for each opening and closing cleaning routine. 
  • Monitor customer feedback and provide solutions to any issues that arise or if new ideas are provided. 
  • Encourage all baristas to recommend new menu items or upgrades, develop new beverage recipes, and to post actively on the Broker’s Brew slack channel to provide daily updates for different food and beverages provided. 
  • Identify, develop, and implement improvements and SOPs to current processes to improve team productivity and service quality.
  • Take orders, prepare, serve and/or deliver beverages and prepared food (cookies, breakfast items, pastries, etc.) in a timely manner and meet quality standards. 
  • Properly handle and maintain all equipment, to include minor troubleshooting of brewing equipment and report any maintenance issues.
  • Adhere to all health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Work closely with our Director of Facilities and other Broker’s Brew staff to ensure success. 
  • Perform any other administrative tasks, events, or workplace duties as requested by the Director of Facilities to support the Facilities team.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a barista role/environment.
  • 1+ year in a leadership role with the ability to train, lead and motivate others.
  • Must have Food and Beverage certification.
  • Basic budgeting and accounting skills. 
  • Experience working autonomously with little to no supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships.
  • Ability to physically stand for long periods, occasional lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds. 
  • Extra attention and care for COVID-19 procedures.
  • Knowledge of food/beverage equipment from working in a cafe/kitchen environment.
  • Strong ability to multitask and solve problems quickly. 
  • Energetic personality combined with a can-do attitude.

$16.60 – $20.70 an hour

The hourly range for this position is from $16.60- $20.70/hour, plus tips and benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the pay range for the position across all locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on work location, job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training.

He joined Arrive in 2018, bringing over 14 years of logistics and brokerage experience, with expertise in project and change management, organizational design, talent development and customer satisfaction. Scott previously held many diverse roles of increasing responsibility with AFN, a Chicago-based freight brokerage.
