Kristian Voelkel – Texas State Class of 2013
Where did you go to school?
Texas State University, eat em up Cats! I was heavily involved in Alpha Tau Omega and the Interfraternity Council, becoming president of ATO during my junior year. I also was a team leader in Bobcat Build for my entire college career. I attended the McCoy College of Business and received my degree in Finance. I love money and so I wanted to learn how to save and invest it wisely. It is a work in progress.
How did you find Arrive?
I was actually attending an ATO happy hour at Top Golf and one of my buddies noticed I was looking a little down because I was not happy with my previous job. He told me to come work with him at a fun startup with a bunch of opportunity to grow and make great friends. I can’t thank Alex Brennan enough for getting me an interview, the rest is history!
What keeps you here?
I really enjoy the competitiveness everyone demonstrates here. It keeps me motivated to make the calls when I’m having a hard day. The people in the office are really cool as well, it’s nice to be able to casually chat with our managers, President and CEO on a day-to-day basis. The atmosphere is really relaxed even though it’s a fast-paced job. Plus the free food on Friday is a great thing too.
Have any advice for soon to be college grads?
Don’t settle for the first job offer you get. This is your chance to find something you love to do. Don’t be afraid to go for the job you think you may not get. Interview experience is a good thing and you never know what people are looking for until you try. Enjoy the party life now because once you start in the real world, those Thursday night downtown trips become few and far between. Having a decent bedtime is also helpful to help you tackle the work day.
