Our talented employees here at Arrive come from a variety of great schools across the country. We sat down with Business Development Rep, Brandon Hendricks, to hear more about his journey from The University of Alabama to Arrive, and how he became interested in going into sales and logistics.
Where did you go to school and what did you study?
I went to The University of Alabama and graduated in the spring of 2020 with a degree in Finance with a specialization in Banking.
How did you first hear about Arrive?
I first heard about Arrive when a recruiter from Arrive reached out to me on the Handshake platform. From there, we had a couple of phone calls and I decided to apply. During the interview process, I determined which city and which side of the business fit me best, and then I joined the Arrive family!
How did you become interested in going into sales and logistics?
I figured out after a finance internship that most finance jobs are really not for me. I then talked to some other people about what drives me the most, and winning, hard work, and collaborating with others were some of the things that I loved the most. So, that is what pushed me into sales. In terms of logistics, I had no idea that this was even a possible job. When I found out about what we do here I instantly was drawn towards it!
What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is the internal and external relationships that I have made. Whether it is someone from carrier sales or a customer, building relationships helps grow business and creates new opportunities.
What keeps you at Arrive?
What keeps me at Arrive is how much management actually cares about what you want as well as your career advancement. We have the best managers and teams that bring high energy and they make it fun to come into the office! We have a great work hard play hard environment that keeps us on our toes.
Have any advice for soon-to-be college grads?
My advice for upcoming college graduates is to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. I never saw myself working in this industry or any industry like it before, but it has been one of the best decisions I have made. This happened all because I stepped outside my comfort zone.
If you could go back in time and tell your college self one thing, what would it be?
If I could go back in time and tell myself to do one more thing it would honestly be to go to more sporting events outside of the football games. Alabama has a variety of great teams whether it’s the gymnastics team, softball team or soccer team. All great and fun times that I wish I took advantage of more!
For someone about to start a career in sales and logistics, what would you tell them?
Sales and logistics can be extremely rewarding careers. I would tell them that it is important to know that this is a fast-paced industry. You will have your ups and downs, but if you work hard the sky’s the limit!
