Abigail Krischke – Valparaiso University 2020

Our Arrive team consists of a variety of talented individuals who come from great Universities all across the country. We sat down with Abigail Krischke, Business Development Rep, to learn more about her path from Valparaiso University to Arrive.

Where did you go to school and what did you study?

I went to Valparaiso University. I graduated in December 2020 with a degree in Marketing and minored in Studio Arts.

How did you first hear about Arrive?

The first time I heard about Arrive Logistics was when an Arrive rep reached out to me via Handshake. After a few messages were exchanged, I decided to apply. About two to three weeks later I was hired. The interview process was very conversational and informative. I was able to learn a lot about the company and get a decent grasp on Arrive’s culture.

How did you become interested in going into operations in the logistics industry?

To be honest, I wasn’t really looking for jobs in the logistics industry until I learned more about Arrive. After talking to a few people within the company and learning more about the role, I realized that this position had the potential to be a really great fit for me.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

Everyone in this office helps me get into a headspace where I am motivated and determined to push forward to success. When I’m in the office, I am surrounded by people who are not only wanting success themselves, but also pushing their teammates to be successful. This kind of support and collaboration brings in constant motivation.

What keeps you at Arrive?

I’ve really enjoyed the fact that I am very much in control of my success at Arrive. I understand the level of my success depends on the effort I choose to put forward.  Knowing the unlimited amount of potential I have pushes me to want to work hard and progress forward.

Have any advice for soon-to-be college grads?

Keep your mind open to any career opportunities that come your way. At the beginning of my job search, I was very closed off to the idea of any type of sales position and was not even considering a role in logistics. After looking more into Arrive, I reevaluated what I was looking for in a job and realized that a sales position could be a great fit.

A degree in business/marketing can lead you into many different industries. I did not expect myself to be in the logistics industry after majoring in marketing. I have found that the skills I gained from college can be applied to many different industries and positions. If I didn’t have an open mind when looking for a job, I would have completely skipped over the opportunity to be a part of Arrive.

If you could go back in time and tell your college self one thing, what would it be?

I wish I didn’t stress about the future as much as I did. Yes, it is important to weigh your options and consider what’s out there, but don’t let that interfere with what you are currently doing. Rather, absorb every opportunity and situation that is currently coming your way. Things will work out the way they are supposed to. Make sure to work hard, live in the present and enjoy your time in college while you’ve got it.

For someone about to start a career in logistics, what would you tell them?

I think it is important to be willing to consume new information every day. There is a lot of information to learn within this industry. Personally, when I came to Arrive a few months ago, I did not know much about logistics. I am grateful that Arrive L&D team, and management team works closely with trainees to make sure that all of their employees are knowledgeable of the industry.
