Each Arrive Logistics employee plays a huge role in our organization’s success and is part of the reason why people love working here. We sat down with Laura Diaz, Staff Accountant, to hear more about her role in our accounting department and why she loves being part of the team.

How did you learn about Arrive and start working here?

I started at Arrive in September 2019, and Arrive actually found me! I was working in the oil and gas industry at the time, and a recruiter at Arrive reached out to me regarding a position in accounting. I was impressed with the company, and I’ve been here ever since.

What does your daily routine look like?

Like most people in our industry, my day starts off early with a cup of coffee. I typically wake up at 5:30 a.m., get organized and write my to-do list for the day. I’ll open up my computer and begin my work day at about 7 a.m. After a full day at Arrive, I like to spend time with my five-month-old daughter and catch up on my favorite TV shows, one of those currently being Grey’s Anatomy

What does an average day in your role look like?

An average day in my role includes a variety of tasks. After I organize my emails and list my priorities for the day, I’m hard at work. I handle all of our vendor account payables and ensure they get recorded and queue them up to get paid by the due date. I pay all the vendors we use across our three offices and make sure we get all invoices ready to pay out. Throughout the day, I’ll complete tasks from our controller, work on journal entries and resolve any accounting issues that may come up.

What do you prioritize in your work?

My biggest priority is finding the balance between speed and accuracy. In accounting, it’s crucial that you don’t skip over anything and ensure every detail is done correctly. I prioritize getting tasks done quickly, but also verifying all my work is done with 100% accuracy.

How has your role at Arrive evolved and how has Arrive grown since you first started?

Since I started at Arrive, I’ve taken on several more responsibilities within my role. As I continue to learn and Arrive continues to grow, I’ve been able to really learn a lot as I take on new tasks and handle more responsibilities. Throughout my time at Arrive, I’ve seen the organization grow and develop so much. The way we do reporting and manage financials has improved greatly, and we’ve become much more organized. All of our processes have been streamlined as well.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of the office, I love to spend my time with my daughter. I just moved into a new home last year, so I’ve also spent a lot of time working on a variety of DIY home projects.

What are your goals for 2021?

For 2021, my goal is to learn more. As I grow professionally, I want to absorb as much knowledge as possible and dig further into the ins and outs of accounting. I’m starting my master’s degree in accounting, so I’m excited to get that going and learn more during that process as well. I also hope to continue my growth here at Arrive and move into a larger role.

What keeps you at Arrive?

The challenge! My role at Arrive can be challenging and stressful at times, but that is exactly what creates energy for me and keeps me motivated. Along with that, I love watching different projects in the company grow and come to life.
